Seniors Want Love, too!

The tell-tell signs of love, whether it happens at 60 or 16, are all the same. Although a lot changes with age, the desire for and effects of love don’t diminish with time.

“Your heart still flutters,” said Maurice Williams, 68, whose rosy glow gives her away.

There’s no denying it — she’s in love.

This article really helps to remind us that dating is never easy, no matter how old you are. Actually, I think it’s more difficult the older you get.

Meeting new people when you are looking for love is an added challenge for Senior’s. Many of the common avenues for dating, such as the workplace or nightspots are not available or practical for people who have retired and whose lives are established firmly outside of “hot nightspot life”.
Even meeting people online is daunting. Many Seniors are admittedly computer phobic, and those that aren’ts, well it often seems that the dating sites are more for the young adults in this world. But, while it may seem that way, nothing could be farther from the truth. And I came to that realization while watching a trailer for “Because I Said So”, the movie about the pushy, older single mother who is busy trying to find a man for her daughter.

In one scene, Diane Keaton (the mom) is in front of a computer, and she clicks on a link for the site: AdultFriendFinder.com . Of course, she is scandalized, and titilated and its all hilarious. Supposedly. :D

The thing is, AdultFriendFinder is only ONE of a series of networked dating sites. They have sites for just about everyone’s taste! And they have one for Seniors. It’s called: SeniorFriendFinder.com.

From their press release:

Senior FriendFinder is an online personals site for people over 40 years of age. With 455,989 active members, Senior FriendFinder easily lets members find a match in their own area or across the world. Featuring active chat rooms, an advice magazine, and more.

Look at that number–almost half a million members! I decided to do a little more digging(don’t want to send any of my nice readers to a shocking adult rated site–unless they want to go to a shocking adult rated site :) ).

First of all, you don’t have to sign up right away. You can browse a bit. I like that. And I like how they list the members by state and country–they tell exactly how many members there are for each state and province.

Since I live in California, I chose that one to browse. They then offer you a choice between…well…lifestyles. Being straight, I chose to browse “men looking for women”.

Once I clicked on that, I was given another choice; I could browse by what kind of relationship I was looking for:
Activity Partner(s)
A Serious Relationship
Marriage

Or I could browse by age group, with my own age minimums and maximums.

I chose “serious relationship” for my browsing pleasure. And I was pleased to see the variety of men who are all looking for a serious relationship with a similar aged woman. They came from all areas of California, and they all looked very nice.

Once I clicked on a profile pic, I was sent to a page where I could create an account for only…hey! It’s for free! I didn’t know that. Dang, I advertise their sites, too! :)

Ooh! Another fun feature: Rate The Photo. Brave members put their pics up for other people to rate. Who knows, the man (or woman) of your dreams might be up there! ;)

Anyway, it’s a very good deal and an interesting way to dip one’s toes back into the dating pool after a long while. I definitely recommend giving SeniorFriendFinder a shot.

Tomorrow, I’m going to touch on the best and safest ways to go forth in the online dating world.
